•Posted on April 14 2024
Mt Gravatt Summit Track located in Brisbane Australia; a quick 15-minute drive from CBD; offers an easily accessible escape into nature. This well-loved track not only promises refreshing walks and breathtaking views but also the joy of spotting wild koalas in their natural habitat. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a casual walker, gearing up for a journey up Mt Gravatt can be a delightful experience. Just a quick FYI, we spotted highest record of 9 koalas in 3km trail which was an amazing experience.
The Mt Gravatt Summit Track is a well-maintained path that stretches approximately 1.5 kilometers one way. The summit itself provides panoramic views of Brisbane and its surroundings, making the hike up more than worth the effort. Here, visitors can enjoy the picturesque skyline, capture stunning photographs, or simply bask in the beauty of the natural world around them.
Once again…I just can’t emphasis this enough, THE KOALA SPOTTING!
The most enhancing feature of the Mt. Gravatt Summit Track is the opportunity to spot wild koalas. These adorable creatures are a significant draw for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. The best times for koala spotting are early in the morning or later in the afternoon when they are most active. Look up into the branches of gum trees where koalas love to feed and rest, and you might just catch a glimpse of these iconic Australian marsupials.
Tips for a GREAT HIKE:
- Start Early
Beat the heat and increase your chances of wildlife sightings by starting your hike early in the morning.
- Stay Hydrated
Carry enough water, especially during warmer months, as hiking can be dehydrating.
- Wear Sun Block
Apply sunscreen and wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun’s harsh rays.
- Respect Nature
Remember to leave no trace, keeping the habitat safe and clean for wildlife and fellow hikers.
Btw, we always wear our Steppy socks when going out for a track. They provide extreme comfort and better sweat absorption. Definitely make any hike, tracking more enjoyable.
